About California HEAT Chorus

California HEAT Chorus is a Sweet Adellines International membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun! We currently are a small chorus with singers of all ages, all walks of life from all areas of Northern California.

Performance

The main purpose of the California HEAT Chorus is to perform for our community. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at an annual competition. Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a capella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year, we are coached by International Judges who reside within Region 12 and share their expertise.   Our coaches include Jan Gervais, Dana Gervais, Shirley Kout and Sharon Carlson. These Masters in the Art of Barbershop offer many fabulous tricks of the trade. Our spring retreat creates focus and confidence perfecting our musical performance  for the Regional competition.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, California HEAT Chorus participates in the Region 12 chorus competition in Reno, Nevada. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories are invited to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year.  Click here to learn more.

Quartets

Many choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. California HEAT Chorus offers the opportunity to sing in a quartet.  As an approved quartet, there are many local venues for performances.   You are also invited to sing at California HEAT Chorus functions and performances.  Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.

California HEAT Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
